It was a similar collapse of the roof and top floors of theFontainebleau Spa building, that put the hotel into bankruptcy and caused Ben Novak to lose the hotel and Fountainebleau Park. This was in the 70's just before we made our Tuna HQ at the hotel in the last days of the Novak era. After he lost the hotel, Lynne and I would have him over to our house for dinner once or twice a month and hear the wonderfull stories of how he became the man who invented Miami Beach.
